Electronic Technologist
We are looking for a senior / intermediate Electronic Technologist for Engineering R&D lab and small volume production support, debugging and reworks complex electronics products, maintains laboratory test equipment and ensuring smooth operation of the lab and small volume production.
Minimum Qualifications:
Three year college diploma in Electrical Engineering Technolgy or equivalent
Duties:
- Test & Debug complex electronics products like high-speed Analog to Digital (ADC), Digital to Analog (DAC), FPGA, CPLD.
- PCB Layout involving high speed differential signals (including multi Gigabit signals), controlled impedance tracking.
- Mechanical modeling and chassis and enclosure design
- Test and debug RF Products
- System assembly
- Board rework/soldering with SMD and BGA devices
- Create and execute test plans
- Maintaining the lab and ensuring that lab equipment are properly calibrated
- Co-ordination with contract manufacturing
- Documents actions by completing engineering and maintenance logs.
- Resolves installation problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources.
- Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Other related duties as assigned by supervisor

Required experience:
- Hands on experience in rework/soldering with SMD and BGA devices a must.
- Hand on assembly experience
- Complex multi-layer (14+ layers) PCB layout. Experience with Allegro and Altium a plus.
- Mechanical modelling and chassis and enclosure design. Experience with Solidworks a plus
- Testing and debug of complex products like high-speed ADC, DAC, FPGA, CPLD, RF products required.
- Writing scripts and C codes
- Office software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- System Test experience is a plus
- Production co-ordination for electronic products including kitting, purchasing etc.
- Must be eligible to work full time in Canada.
Summer Student / Intern for Real Time HMI Development
D-TA Systems has an open position for a summer intern / student for real time HMI development. The position is for 3 to 4 months but may be extended.
- Bachelor of Computer Science preferred
- Bachelor of Engineering with extensive real time programming in C / C++ may also be considered
- Students in 3rd year with extensive work terms and excellent grades will be considered.
- 1 year experience preferred.
- Proven proficiency in C/C++, client-server socket programming.
- Experience with Qt toolkit and GUI design.
- Experience developing for Linux and Microsoft Windows; Mac OS experience an valuable asset.
- Self-starter, detail oriented and quick learner
- Must be able to work in a team
- Understanding of Signal & Systems and basic DSP is desirable
- Experience with analysis and display of waveform data, including FFT and windowing preferred
- Previous experience writing HMI/GUI that interfaces with hardware to perform control and data acquisition is desirable
- Experience in writing test plan to test a GUI for mission-critical system is desirable
- Must be eligible to work in Canada
